The Scene: Library of the gracious,
Tudor-style home of George and
Corinne Sidney. They're hosting a
reporter from a national magazine
who has come to profile their famed
Hollywood careers.
The
Dialogue: Informed and witty,
filled with behind-the-scenes anecdotes
and a perspective on Hollywood that
ranges from silent pictures to the
video era.
Surprise
Twist: During the
conversation, the reporter mentions
he has diabetes and isn't feeling well.
The interview changes course, with the
hosts now asking questions. After
learning about the reporter's
condition, Mrs. Sidney recommends:
"Go to Mayo. They're the ones who
can help."
This isn't a script. It's an actual
event, and just one example of how
Mr. and Mrs. George Sidney support
Mayo. In addition to the reporter,
they have referred many friends and
associates to Mayo over the years.
Mr. and Mrs. Sidney have received
care at Mayo Clinic Scottsdale and
Mayo Rochester, and they're loyal
advocates of the institution. The
Sidneys are members of The Mayo
Legacy, an organization of benefactors
who provide estate gifts to Mayo.
They discuss Mayo with a delightful
blend of sincerity and humor.
"Mayo is great," explains Mr.
Sidney "I give them my body on
Monday, pick it up on Wednesday, and
I'm set for another 100,000 miles."

He was the only American director
